The Salzgitter Green Steel Transformation Project (SALCOS – Salzgitter Low CO ₂ Steelmaking) is one of Europe ’ s most important steel industry decarbonization projects, developed by Salzgitter AG in Germany to transform traditional steel production into a low-carbon and hydrogen-based manufacturing system.

The project aims to significantly reduce carbon emissions by replacing conventional blast furnace technology with innovative direct reduction and electric steelmaking processes. As a key initiative supporting Europe ’ s green transition, SALCOS represents the future development direction of sustainable steel production.

Due to the complexity of industrial transformation projects, high-performance structural steel materials are required for plant construction, equipment foundations, and supporting infrastructure systems.

During the project construction, Shandong Shouyuan Steel Co., Ltd. supplied high-quality S355JR H beams and Q355B carbon steel plates to support industrial structures and related engineering applications.
